{"id":18,"date":"2007-11-14T22:38:52","date_gmt":"2007-11-14T22:38:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/martinswood.co.uk\/index.php\/local-recycling\/"},"modified":"2025-11-26T15:40:31","modified_gmt":"2025-11-26T15:40:31","slug":"local-recycling","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/martinswood.co.uk\/index.php\/local-recycling\/","title":{"rendered":"Local Recycling"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Houses and Flats on the Estate have slightly different systems for recycling:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"#house\">Recycling for Houses<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#flats\">Recycling for Flats<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"house\">Houses<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Houses are provided with a selection of coloured boxes as part of Stevenage Borough Councils Recycling Box scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The boxes are:-<br><strong> <span style=\"color: red;\">RED<\/span><\/strong><br> The Red box is for Glass bottles and jars only.<br> Please do <strong>NOT<\/strong> include: <strong> Pyrex, Sheet Glass, Light Bulbs or Drinking Glasses.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: blue;\"><strong>BLUE<\/strong><\/span><br> The Blue box is for Metals, Cardboard and Paper. It is split in to two halves:-<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First half:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Metal food and drink cans<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Second half:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Newspapers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Magazines<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>White paged telephone directories (NOT Yellow Pages or Thompson&#8217;s Directory)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Junk mail<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Home shopping catalogues (please remove cardboard covers)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please do <strong>NOT<\/strong> include <strong>Cardboard<\/strong> of any kind. Cardboard can be recycled at the <a href=\"https:\/\/martinswood.co.uk\/index.php\/recycling-centre\/\">Household Waste Recycling Centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Red and Blue boxes are collected on the <a href=\"http:\/\/martinswood.co.uk\/?q=node\/12\">same day<\/a> as your main waste collection but a bit later. Your boxes should be out by <strong>8:00 am<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your Red or Blue boxes have been damaged and need replacing then you can contact the council for new ones via the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stevenage.gov.uk\/environment\/rubbishwasteandrecycling\/recyclinghouseholdcollection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Household Collection &#8211; Recycling webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a id=\"brown\"><\/a><span style=\"color: brown;\"><strong>BROWN<\/strong><\/span><br> The Brown box isn&#8217;t really a box it is a Wheelie bin. It is for recycling Garden Waste. The Brown Wheelie bins are provided as part of the council&#8217;s Garden Waste Recycling Scheme. For more information about the scheme, how to get a wheelie bin if you dont already have one, what you can and cannot put in to a it and when collections are then check out the <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.stevenage.gov.uk\/environment\/rubbishwasteandrecycling\/householdwastegardenwaste\" target=\"_blank\">Garden Waste Recycling Scheme webpage<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brown Wheelie Bins are collected fortnightly on the <a href=\"https:\/\/martinswood.co.uk\/index.php\/refuse-collections\/\">Monday and at the same time<\/a> as your main waste collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your wheelie bin should be out by <strong>7:00 am<\/strong>. There is a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stevenage.gov.uk\/environment\/rubbishwasteandrecycling\/dnld_rubbishwasteandrecycling\/monday-1and2.pdf\">pdf document detailing collection dates<\/a> on the Garden Waste Recycling Scheme webpage above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will need Adobe Reader to be able to view a pdf document.<br>\nAdobe Reader can be downloaded via this link <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adobe.com\/products\/reader\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/martinswood.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/11\/get_adobe_reader.gif\" align=\"middle\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"flats\">Flats<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Recycling of paper, glass and tins for residents in Hellebore Court and St Michael&#8217;s Court is by using the three special coloured wheelie bins provided in the bin rooms of each block.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: red;\"><strong>RED Wheelie Bin<\/strong><\/span><br> The Red Wheelie Bin is for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Glass bottles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Glass jars<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Please <strong>DO NOT<\/strong> include: <strong> Pyrex, Sheet Glass, Light Bulbs or Drinking Glasses.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>Black Wheelie Bin<\/strong><br> The Black Wheelie bin is for:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Metal food containers and trays<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Drink cans<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plastic bottles<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plastic food trays \/ containers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tetrapak Drink cartons<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"color: blue;\"><strong>BLACK \/ BLUE Wheelie Bin<\/strong><\/span><br> Originally the bin was Blue but a recent upgrade to give a larger bin means the bin is now black. The Black Wheelie Bin is for Paper, Magazines and cardboard. If cardboard doesn&#8217;t fit in the wheelie bin it will not be taken. Large Cardboard Boxes and items can be recycled at the <a href=\"https:\/\/martinswood.co.uk\/index.php\/recycling-centre\/\">Household Waste Recycling Centre<\/a>. Please do not dump items that are too big in the bin room.
