The nearest shops can be found at The Oval<\/a>. There is a Budgens on Wedgewood Way<\/a> There is a Tescos Express at The Glebe<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n The only Launderette in Stevenage<\/a> is at The Oval<\/p>\n\n\n\n There are Pharmacies at The Oval, Emperors Gate Shops<\/a> and The Glebe Shops<\/p>\n\n\n\n There are almost no Newsagents left in Stevenage. There is a T G Jones (formerly W H Smiths) in the town centre. The local Post Office in now in the Morrisons Local at the Oval<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Oval has a small CoOp,, Morrisons Local, Off Licence, Butchers and a number of food outlets: Pizza, Kebab, Fried Chicken, a Chippy, a small Cafe. There is also a Dominos Pizza<\/a> nearby<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is a really excellent old school hardware store at The Oval<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stevenage has a number nice parks and open spaces. The closest park, which includes a children’s play area is the other side of the Southern boundary fence of the estate. There is also a small sports field a short walk away. The main park is Fairlands Valley Park<\/a> which stretches through the length of the town and is a short walk from the estate. \\it has a lake with fishing and boating activities, an activity centre with climbing and high rope walkway activities, a water park in the summer, there is a fitness \/ assault \/ obstacle activity course through the park. A short walk away but easily accessible on foot is Martins Wood<\/a>, an ancient woodland, through which you can access Pryors Wood<\/a> and then Great Ashby Park<\/a>. From Great Ashby Park you can join the Stevenage Outer Orbital Path<\/a>, or “STOOP”, which encircles the town joining a number of Public Footpaths in to a continuous circular path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There are a number of entertainment venues close to Stevenage Town centre. Stevenage Leisure Park<\/a> has a Hollywood Bowl, Gravity Trampoline Centre, Mulligan Crazy Golf, Cineworld, TGI Fridays, John Lloyd Fitness Centre, Macdonalds, Wagamama, 360 Childcare and others. It is also close to the train station and Gordon Craig Theatre however it is really important to know the following:<\/p>\n\n\n\n WARNING<\/strong>: The Leisure Park has extremely zealous parking officials. The Leisure Park car parking is ONLY<\/strong> for patrons of establishments on the Leisure Park. If you park a car on the Leisure Park and then leave the Leisure Park, for example to go to the town centre, Gordon Craig Theatre or meet someone arriving by train you will find a very expensive parking ticket on your car when you return to it! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is a multi screen Cineworld<\/a> on Stevenage Leisure Park. A short drive away in Letchworth is the Broadway Cinema <\/a>which is an independent Cinema and Theatre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stevenage Leisure Centre, near the train station, is home to the Gordon Craig Theatre<\/a>. There is also a small local armature theatre company “The Lytton Players<\/a>” a short distance along Vardon Road from The Oval community shops. There is also the Queen Mother Theatre<\/a> in the neighbouring town of Hitchin<\/p>\n\n\n\n The “Old Town” High Street has a wide range of Pubs, Bars and Restaurants. There are also an number of eating places and venues on Stevenage Leisure Park, near the mainline train station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Stevenage has a Swimming Pool<\/a> and Sports \/ Leisure Centre and Gym<\/a>.
