For recycleable materials please look at the:
- Local Recycling page
- Stevenage Recycling Centre page
For disposing of large items or bulky items that wont fit in to a wheelie bin then you have two options:-
- Take the rubbish, yourself, to the council Household Waste and Recycling Centre.
- Call the council “Bulky Waste Collection” service on 01438 218888 or visit the Bulky Waste Collection web page.
Houses
Waste from Houses is collected by the council weekly. Household rubbish, which cannot be recycled, has to be put at the boundary of your property in your wheelie bin.
Flats
Waste from Flats is collected by the council weekly. Household rubbish, which cannot be recycled, has to be placed in any of the 4 large green or black General Waster wheelie bins in each block’s Bin Room. Originally all the General Waste wheelie bins were Green. Over the years some have been replaced with Black wheelie bins. All wheelie bins have additional signs / labelling to indicate what type of waster or recycling they are to be used for. Please check you are putting the right type of material in the correct bins! Please do not dump rubbish bags on top of the wheelie bins or on the floor. Please use ALL of the General Waste wheelie bins. Not just the one nearest to the door.
It is important to note that the refuse team will NOT take ANY refuse from the Bin Rooms that is NOT in a wheelie bin. If you have any bulky items that wont fit in to a wheelie bin then you have two options:-
- Take the rubbish, yourself, to the council Household Waste and Recycling Centre.
- Call the council “Bulky Waste Collection” service on 01438 218888 or visit the Bulky Waste Collection web page.
Please do NOT dump large items of rubbish in the bin rooms! The management company have to pay for these items to be disposed of which leads to an unnecessary increase in maintenance charges for leaseholders. This, in turn, will increase the rents of tenants. Please be considerate to other residents. If you have something big to dispose of it is YOUR problem to dispose of it using appropriate means.
